Children's Choirs

We would love for your child to participate in Covenant’s Graded Choirs this year!  Our goal is for the children to develop basic music skills through singing, movement and playing instruments as they offer their praise to God through psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.

Dr. Paul Magyar became Director of Music Ministries at Covenant in July of 2008.  He was born in St. Louis and grew up in Cali, Colombia where his parents were missionaries with the International Mission Board of the SBC. He received his bachelor's degree in church music/voice from Oklahoma Baptist University, his master’s degree in music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his doctorate in choral conducting from Louisiana State University. Paul has served Southern Baptist churches in Gadsden, Alabama, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Houston, Texas (where he led a diverse music ministry involving 900 participants including a 200 voice adult choir), and Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas. Dr. Magyar has led numerous conferences and workshops in several states, conducted the 2007 Alabama All State SSA Choir, and has taught courses in choral music and church music/worship at Houston Baptist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Houston campus), and Lipscomb University in Nashville. Paul and and his wife, Mary, have two adult children, Stephen and Anna.
