Music Ministry
The music ministry serves a dual purpose: first, to lead God's people in joyful worship, and second, to nurture and develop their musical talents.
Music is one of the most profound gifts of beauty that God has given to us. Striving for excellence in music is a means by which we can reflect God’s own character, and our music reaches its highest potential when it is offered to God in worship. To this end, Covenant seeks to cultivate a rich tradition of excellence in sacred music.
While the congregation is the primary "choir" in our gathered worship, Covenant has several choirs and ensembles that lead our worship and present seasonal concerts.

Choirs
The Covenant choirs offer members of all ages an opportunity to share their gifts, deepen their musical understanding, become lifelong worshipers, and develop and grow in community together. The weekly rehearsals prepare participants for leading in corporate worship, concert settings, and community outreach. Anyone from pre-k to senior adults is welcome to participate.
Chancel Choir (ages 14+)
The Chancel Choir is the primary choral ensemble for all Sunday worship and special services, including Holy Week and Lessons & Carols. Additionally, the choir performs concerts of sacred music at different times of the year. Also, weekly rehearsals are structured to help develop and build a rich community with one another. We are committed to excellence in all things as we lead our congregation to experience God’s love, majesty, beauty, and glory through various musical offerings. Singers of all levels are welcome! No audition is required.
Children’s Choirs
The Covenant Children’s Choirs are available for children aged 4 – 5th grade. There are three choirs: Cherubs (ages 4-Kindergarten), Seraphs (1st—2nd grade), and Choristers (3rd—5th grade). Our philosophy in teaching children to become lifelong worshipers is simple yet profound. “Growing in Grace,” our comprehensive curriculum teaches children new songs and standard hymns of the faith while building their musical skills to sing well, listen, fellowship, collaborate, and actively participate.
Instrumental Ensembles
Along with our singers, Covenant instrumentalists heighten the worship of the morning services through their skillful playing. Our musicians are both active professionals and skilled amateurs. The Covenant Strings, brass, and handbells choirs are prepared for worship throughout the year. Please get in touch with one of the music staff if you would like to participate.
Covenant Bronze
Covenant Bronze is our adult handbell ensemble. This ensemble gathers to rehearse seasonally and rings during Advent, Holy Week, and occasional worship services. While reading music is helpful, it is not a requirement. We are committed to excellence in all things as we help lead our congregation in the worship of our Lord!
Folk Music
Covenant is blessed with many folk musicians whose musical language speaks to Nashville’s rich musical heritage. Nashville is also home to many singer-songwriters who are adding to the church’s legacy of congregational song. The music ministry desires to pair the vocalists and folk musicians with the best of modern hymnody, leading God’s people in a “new song” (Psalm 96:1).
Music at Covenant Series
The Covenant concert series exists to proclaim the Excellencies of Jesus Christ through music. Each year, our church choirs, orchestra, and talented soloists, along with special guest artists, come together to present a series of concerts. Events are open to the public, and most concerts are free of charge. Be sure to join your church family and invite family and friends to enjoy the beauty of God’s gift of music.
Audio & Video Ministry
Covenant looks to have a thriving audio and video ministry. In addition to our live-streamed worship services, there are opportunities to help with audio and video for church events, including concerts and other special occasions. Contact Eli German to get involved.
