Kingdoms in Conflict

Questions for Reflection and Discussion 1. Peter begins his brief sermon to Cornelius and company by saying, “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality....” To what is Peter referring? Why is this important for us to remember as well? 2. How does God’s work through Peter on this new frontier help Peter to trust his own beliefs more firmly? How does God increase our trust in Him when we are stretched beyond what is comfortable? 3. What is the gospel, according to Peter in this passage? Why does the message itself have power? Do you have a sense of its power in your own heart? Why or why not? 4. Why are those accompanying Peter amazed (v. 45)? When have you last been amazed by the grace of God? 5. Why does Peter want to baptize Cornelius and his company immediately? What does this signify about the immediacy of God’s grace in salvation?
